Description
This is a present for a friend who has a son who loves Spider-Man. I usually incorporate fantasy themes in my work, so this is stepping into a new genre for me. I'm used to conveying emotion through the face, and that wasn't an option here, so I studied the source image to really get the body language right.

Howdy! I'm from ProjectComment's Weekly Commenting Project also, it seems my "m" key is having difficulty so if you see a word missing one that's why
First off, congrats on going outside your comfort zone! That can be quite terrifying (hence why I tend to stay in mine), and I think you pulled it off nicely Since you mentioned in a response below you went off the 90's cartoon Spider-man, I thought I'd take a nosey to make a comparison with that. The overall composition in comparison feels nice, the similarly colored lines creates a good effect in resembling that style I think the colors are good, and the tinted highlights show a good knowledge of how to create the differences in lighting.
Just a couple things related to the styling and anatomy that I'd like to point out arms are incredibly tricky, especially when dealing with a different style. Overall, that spiderman seemed to be a bit more muscular then he appears in this, perhaps using more rounded lines on the upper arms would help allude to the bigger musculature. On a similar note, the muscular groupings on the viewer's left arm feel just a little bit off. I can see you're trying to show that biceps and triceps grouping, but from this angle, I think the outer piece of that arm could use a bit more shadow to show the clear difference Or.. wait, but the style... I don't know, just, you might want to take another look at how they did the arms. The shoulder blade, though, I think needs a more definite, darker shadow at the base to show that it's the shoulder blade sticking up and not something going on with the top of his shoulder. The red is I think almost exactly the same color as his outfit in the show, but I think the blue might be a smidge too bright. Lastly, I think the chin is a little blockier in the show, but that might just have been the angle
Overall, great job! Keep up the great work and have fun
